The area is famous for it's fabulous wild orchids and other wild flowers, best seen in May/June and the amazing variety of beautiful butterflies and moths too. Bergerac is a good day out too, with fabulous river views, good shopping and wonderful wines. At Aubeterre there is a monolithic church, hewn from solid rock, a must for lovers of history, and further afield there are caves at Sarlat, showing the earliest cave drawings known to man. There are many Roman churches to visit, and the area is steeped in history from Richard the Lionheart to present day, being just inside the Vichy Line during the second world war. The area is full of historic places to visit, Brantome, Riberac, and Aubeterre being but a few. Within the local area for the more adventurous you will find many sporting activities, including golf, horse riding, canoeing, cycling, walking and much more. The area is famous for growing maize and sunflowers, which are in abundance as the soil is rich and arable, and you will see cows and goats within a short distance of the house too. Villa La Source is set on a hill overlooking a nearby village, between open fields in a conservation area. The house is let from Saturday to Saturday during the high season, but alternative arrangement may be possible at other times of the year. Nearby towns also have larger supermarkets, and there is a fabulous market at Riberac every Friday, not to be missed. The local village has all you require on a day to day basis, bakery, butcher, general grocery store, paper shop, bank, hairdressers, tourist office, petrol station, 3 cafes, two restaurants and a weekly market. The garden is set to lawns and flower beds wiith many fruit trees, including figs,hazelnuts, walnuts, damsons, greengages, and plums. Further shaded areas can be found under the spreading chestnut tree, and in the small walled garden with ponds, under the mature linden tree. There is a covered shaded patio outside the kitchen and dining rooms for al fresco dining with a splendid BBQ for your use. Surrounded by a child proof fence and a large terrace, the pool area is also furnished with sun loungers for a relaxing holiday. The pool is non-chlorinated and perfect for even the youngest child, using an extract of salt water as the disinfectant agent, kind to skin and eyes. Set in it's own 3/4 of an acre garden, totally fenced and gated, with loads of parking space for several cars, there is also a table tennis table, some adult and childrens bikes, boules, a Wendy house and other toys for children. ![]() There is also a folding childs bed and a cot available if required. This house is perfect for a family holiday, or two families sharing, as the house has two separate bedroom areas, accessed by separate staircases, there being an old section and a newer section, providing 3 double bedrooms, and 2 twin bedrooms in total.
